"While creating my submission, I tried to keep in mind all of the qualities that make Michigan special. Through symbolism, I wanted to convey these qualities. The focal point, for example, is the phoenix. Michigan is in a state of distress, and like the phoenix, it will rise from the ashes and triumph. During this crucial time, we must reminisce in Michigan's historic past while pushing forward to a brighter future."Julia Maiuri
