"The painting is acrylic on wood, and the title is: "last stand." The style is more influenced by great mexican muralists like rivera, orozco and Siqueiros than the works progress administration artwork of the 1930's. However, I feel the subject matter is appropriate for the times and the contest. Detroit and the auto industry, have obviously been under the national microscope and has faced severe scrutiny and criticism the past year. The painting implores the people to be proud of our manufacturing roots and to defend its livlihood. Lets save michigan by saving the auto indusrty, by pusing the archaic giants forward into the next century by demanding new, more efficient green technology."
