We Asked, You Answered
Michigan's transportation system--how it manages moving people and goods around--is outdated, out of touch, not to mention, out of style. We've been doing things the same way for so long, we don't even recognize when they don't work the way they should.
This summer, we've asked you to share with us photos of your transportation experiences, via social media or our uploader, and to label your photo "#MiTransWorks" if it's something we need more of, or "#MiTransFail" if we need a new solution.
And here's what you've shared with us so far. Likes: taking a train, using multiple transportation modes, and when trucks stay out of bike lanes. Dislikes: traffic, ridiculously wide streets, senior citizens waiting at bus stops with no amenities.
Now it's time to go to the experts. Tomorrow Let's Save Michigan and the Michigan Municipal League are hosting a meeting of the transportation minds--on Twitter. You are invited to participate: simply tweet your questions or ideas with the hashtag #MiTransVision, or follow @LetsSaveMich at 12:00 p.m. on September 13. All the details are here.
Keep your input coming! Together we can shape a new vision for transportation in Michigan.
