Michigan Rail Summit Held Yesterday in Lansing

At yesterday's Michigan Rail Summit, state and national experts explored how rail development affects Michigan businesses, the economy and the environment.

US Department of Transportation Deputy Secretary, John Porcari, met with leaders at the Michigan Rail Summit yesterday, where he spoke about the importance of investing in critical infrastructure, like high speed rail.

"It’s simple: investing in jobs to repair America’s transportation network and build new systems like high-speed rail is not a Democratic or Republican idea; this is a tried-and-true solution to connect the people who need work with the work that needs to be done."

"The Senate has the opportunity to pass a bill that will make an immediate investment of $50 billion in our nation's surface transportation infrastructure and $10 billion in a new, bipartisan National Infrastructure Bank. Together, these initiatives will put hundreds of thousands of construction workers back on the job rebuilding our roads, rails and runways."
