Constitutional Convention: Do You Want It and What Do You Want Changed?
Thanks to our forefathers, our state’s constitution provides Michigan citizens the opportunity to decide every 16 years whether to call a constitutional convention to propose revisions to the state’s rules for government. That question will appear on the November 2, 2010 ballot.
With all of the dysfunction that has surrounded state government during our recent economic downturn there has been interest growing in a constitutional convention to adopt a new state constitution, which hasn’t happened since 1963.

The subject is certainly dry, but it is crucial to the future of our state, and it is something we’ll all have an opportunity to have a say in later this year. We owe it to ourselves to be familiar with the issues behind a convention before we vote.
Do you think the constitution should be revised? If so, what aspects of the state constitution would you like to see changed?
