Commission to Complete Michigan’s Streets Receiving Feedback

Complete Streets” is an effort to make roadways safer, more comfortable and more attractive to all forms of transportation. Currently, 23 states have adopted or endorsed Complete Streets policies and Michigan is in the process of drafting their own. This policy will direct Michigan Department of Transportation planners to design and maintain roadways that keep all users in mind, including bicyclists, public transportation riders, motorists and pedestrians.

Transit 4 Michigan is getting out the word that drafting guidelines is a great step in the right direction but more needs to be done.  In an effort to make sure actions follow talk, Transit 4 Michigan is advocating for establishing clear timelines for implementation and detailing how state and local officials will work together to make better, safer streets.

To learn more about Michigan’s complete streets proposal go to Transit 4 Michigan’s website and give your feedback to the Michigan State Transportation Commission before July 13th: MDOT-CompletestreetsAC@michigan.gov.
