Celebrate the Fourth on a Bike!
Two new videos popped up this week that celebrate life on a bike in Detroit and Grand Rapids. "Grand Rapids: Rise of the Cycling City" showcases efforts by the city and its institutions to increase bike facilities--and demonstrates both a few shortcomings and some great progress. "Detroit Bike City" is a slightly more poetic reflection on what it's like to experience Detroit by bike, and why so many people are choosing to do so.
The upshot: both cities have growing communities of people looking for sustainable transportation options. They are working hard to make sure that biking is safe and accessible to anyone who wants to unleash their inner bike-riding child--even as a commuting adult. After watching these videos, we bet you'll want nothing more than to hop on a bike this beautiful Michigan weekend and see what all the fuss is about!
